As winter
turns to spring, we are noticing a trend toward “simple elegance”.
Most of our brides are planning late afternoon ceremonies, with a sunset
cocktail hour and a four hour dinner and dancing reception. Ivory, cream,
and khaki are the hot new colors, and most brides are choosing to use the
venue’s standard white linens, with a “specialty” topper made of
satin or organza that graces the table. As for the chair décor, some of
our brides are renting the gold or fruitwood chivari chairs, while others
are going back to the white chair covers with white bows, or white chair
covers with the bow matching the table topper. Florals are
being kept to a minimum with some brides creating small centerpieces that
would fit into a normal sized decorated hat box. Others are using a
combination of low and high centerpieces to “fill up” the room. The
colors are generally white and off white, with no filler and beautiful
spring green stems. If party
favors are being used, we are seeing wrapped candles or donuts, packaged
in a variety of exciting styles. Bridal gowns are also being kept simple,
as most of our brides are choosing a fitted strapless gown, with a small
train and no veil. They are wearing wearing their hair up, and if there is
a veil, it cascades down from their up-do, and does not cover their face. If you would
like for us to feature your wedding on our site, or if you have a question
for “ask angela”, please send an email to “
